2017 Hurricane Harvey Update
Hurricane Harvey impacted so many lives in Houston-metro area and HALTER was not spared with the entire property under 6 feet of water. The animals were moved off the property, but all the infrastructure needed to support services for the special needs children of Houston was severely damaged or lost. Thank you to the many loving volunteers like Team Rubicon, the Boy Scouts, CFISD Key Clubs, CFISD Nation Honor Society students and others in the community who pitched in to help in the aftermath of the hurricane to rebuild HALTER.
As of Fall 2018, there have been many improvements made. Our main building has now been repaired; the animals are all back home where they belong, and we were able to welcome some new babies in the Spring. We still need help replacing walkways and fences, and we are looking to replace some equipment that unfortunately floated away or spent several weeks totally under water.
Anyone wanting to help please visit our online store and donate there are many different options. As well as participating in our clean up days.
