SCOUTS
Daisies...
Daisy Girl Scouts can earn their “Love, Hug and Groom” patch at HALTER. The program takes about one hour and includes learning general horse care and safety, haltering and un-haltering a horse, attaching a lead rope, and grooming miniature horses.
Brownies...
Brownie Girl Scouts can earn their “Texas Horsin' Around”. Try It at HALTER. The program takes about two hours and includes horse safety and care, general anatomy of a horse, rules on a ranch, horse control, and games with miniature horses.
Juniors...
Junior Girl Scouts can earn their “Horse Lover” patch as well as their “Horse Rider” patch. In Horse Lover the Girl Scouts will learn about local horse riding and show opportunities, they will learn about famous horses in history, play with horse games and puzzles, learn parts of both English and Western saddles and bridles, and the clothing required for showing horses. Horse Lover is done during a troop meeting and takes about 45 minutes.
In Horse Rider the Girl Scouts come to HALTER for about two hours to learn to saddle and bridle a horse, learn to mount and dismount on both an English and Western saddle, learn to make an emergency dismount, ride using both an English and Western saddle, learn about grooming tools and use them to groom miniature horses
GIRL SCOUTS
BOY SCOUTS
Cub Scouts can earn their “Horseback Riding Belt Loop” here! Boys will come to HALTER for about two hours to learn to halter a horse, learn to mount and dismount on both an English and Western saddle, learn to make an emergency dismount, ride using both an English and Western saddle, learn about grooming tools and use them to groom miniature horses.
We also do Merit Badges for Boy Scouts as well!
